Meikigo vs Fresha for Malaysian barbershops.

Booking apps stop at the appointment. Meikigo is booking, payment and report. One tablet. No customer app.

The short answer

Fresha is a booking and marketplace app. It is strong when almost every chair is booked in advance, and when you want their app to send you new customers.

Meikigo is built for the counter. Walk-ins and bookings on one board. Cash, DuitNow QR, and card at the counter, on the tablet you already own. Customers scan a QR. They do not download an app.

If the next-up list is still a paper book, and WhatsApp bookings fight walk-ins for the same chairs, Meikigo is the closer fit. If you live on marketplace discovery, a booking app may still be right.

Where they actually differ

The split is not “which calendar looks nicer.” It is whether the product stops when the appointment is made, or keeps going through the chair and the till.

Side by side vs a typical booking app. Fresha is the name most Malaysian shops know for that category. See the cost stack for a 3-barber shop.

What it costs a 3-barber shop

Meikigo Starter is RM109 a month and includes up to five barbers. A three-chair shop stays on that flat bill. Yearly is ten months paid, twelve months covered.

Fresha’s Team plan is RM45 per bookable team member a month on its Malaysia pricing page, so three barbers come to RM135 a month, before tax and add-ons. Hire another barber and their bill goes up by RM45. For a solo barber or a two-chair shop, Fresha can cost less. Payment processing fees apply on both. Prices checked 27 Oct 2026.

Who should pick which

Choose Meikigo if you still manage customers by hand, you count commissions after close, customers skip booking because they have to download an app, or walk-ins and WhatsApp bookings fight over the same chairs.

A booking app may fit if you need their marketplace to send you new customers, almost every chair is booked in advance, and walk-ins and cash at the till are not how you run.

What Meikigo does not claim

  • There is no offline mode. If the internet drops, take cash or a personal DuitNow, then key the sale when you are back online.
  • Meikigo is not a customer marketplace. We do not send you walk-ins from an app storefront.
  • Payroll and payslips are Pro only. Commissions reporting starts on Starter.
